Registered Safety Technician
OSHA regulations mandate that full-time Competent Persons be on-site at every job. A "Competent Person" is able to recognize worksite hazards, and has the authority to take corrective measures. Contractors will now be able to hire Union members who have completed and received certification as a Registered Safety Technician. Any Union member who has completed a BAT-recognized apprenticeship program and has been certified, or a journeyperson who has 6,000 recordable working hours, is eligible to become a safety technician. The International Union of Painters and
Allied Trades has established the PATCH (Painters and
Allied Trades for Children's Hope) Foundation. Each
year the foundation identifies a particular need of
children that is of concern to the North American people
as well as our members. The foundation then seeks out
the very best organizations that work to solve that
problem, and help ensure that those institutions are
as financially equipped as possible to carry out their
goals by providing them with funds and materials collected
by our members and communities. The types of children's
issues The PATCH Foundation seeks to address include,
but are not limited to literacy, education, incurable
children's diseases, children's emotional well-being,
childhood poverty, homelessness, and children's health
care. For more information on The PATCH Foundation,
visit their page within the
IUPAT
Web Page.
